Highview’s path to commercialization commenced in 2005 when the company’s founders began working with scientists from the University of Leeds and the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics (Chinese Academy of Sciences) to create a large-scale energy storage system using liquefied air.
With a pilot demonstrator operational, the team has defined and commenced engineering of a full-scale commercial reference plant, scheduled to be deployed by late 2013.
